Branding domain names or not?
There can be a debate on this topic.Having keywords in your domain name is good,but what it it is not memorable.Would you still sacrifice a good brandable and memorable one to one which has got keywords in it?I will not.If we take some examples,many or most of the successful websites on the Internet are having no keywords in their domain names whatsoever.Still they get lots of traffic.For example : Yahoo,Google,Paypal etc.But if your site needs to build up from scratch and you want a good rank in the Search Engines,then domain names having keywords would serve a good purpose.
In my view there is an answer to this question.Ask yourself if you are going to create a site that is expected to serve long term goals or Is it going to be a short term matter?If you think that it is going to serve a long term purpose,go for a short,memorable and brandable domain name.If it is a short term thing , go for keywords in your domain name.This will help you in the short term.
